New insights in the possible role of goat milk in non-IgE mediated allergy or milk allergy prevention

Last week our Sr. Research Scientist Immunology presented the poster about the possible role of goat milk in non-IgE medicated allergy and/or allergy prevention at the Food Allergy Forum in Amsterdam. Karen about her experience of the congress: “It was nice to experience so many people were interested in the difference between cow’s and goat milk, and the possible role of goat milk infant formula in allergy”. The literature study showed that goat milk based formula is associated with lower allergenicity and easier digestibility, therefore making it a better option over cow’s milk-based formula as the first choice of protein, when breastfeeding is not possible or after a breast-feeding period. The results also suggest a potential role of goat milk-based formula in non-IgE mediated allergy and/or in prevention of milk allergy, however further research is needed to confirm this.
